Government to apologise for UK role in Israel-Palestine conflict

Petition Details

We believe as a consequence of the Balfour Declaration the UK has played a part in decades of violence from which the people of the former British Mandate of Palestine still suffer. HM Government should publicly acknowledge this, and apologise, as occurred in 2007 over the British role in slavery.

Additional Information

By apologising for what we see as the UK’s share of responsibility historically for the situation that gave rise to violence which continues to affect both sides in the conflict, we hope the Government will begin a process that we believe can help not only to unite the people of the United Kingdom, but also bolster our moral standing internationally to achieve a two-state solution in accordance with UK foreign policy to the lasting benefit of all who consider Israel & Palestine their homeland.
