Review how mental health cases that come through 999 are dealt with
There needs to be a full review to look at how mental health crises are dealt with by the emergency services and dispatchers through 999 calls. The review should look at how people are triaged; the options available to responders; and the training provided.
We believe the way 999 calls relating to individuals handling mental health crises are handled and responded to can be inappropriate, and make the situation worse. A review should look at how these situations are dealt with at present, and identify ways of ensuring that these calls are responded to appropriately in the future.
New laws and legislation need to be passed to enable a better person-centered approach for people contacting 999 in crisis.
If you want to sign this petition (as opposed to merely discuss it), you need to do that on the government's e-Petitions website.
