Do not prevent people joining the military reserves due to food allergies
In March 2021 the Government said there were 1,208 personnel who had a recorded food allergy, with 50 having a current prescription for an epinephrine autoinjector and had been deployed. With the labelling of food in ration packs personnel are able to avoid such foods that can cause these reactions.
The Government recognises that these people actively serve in the armed forces as found out through a FOI in May 2021. Many army reserve units are currently seeking to employ people with a decline in military personnel over the years. Removing barriers to people with allergies joining could increase recruitment and prevent people from lying on their applications to be admitted. Religious meals within bases are catered for so why not something as simple as allergies?
If you want to sign this petition (as opposed to merely discuss it), you need to do that on the government's e-Petitions website.
