Call for a UK national day of recognition for Licensed Aircraft Engineers (LAEs)
Focus a UK national day on those people who are the "faces behind safety" in the aviation maintenance community. Those professional engineers who day-after-day, in a high-pressure environment, in all weather conditions ensure that the aircraft continue to be airworthy.
Joining with colleagues in the US to honour the memory of Charles E. Taylor, the first aviation maintenance engineer, each 24th May. Recognising the role of aviation maintenance engineers in ensuring the safety and security of civil and military aircraft in the UK. This national day aims to boost morale and encourage the recruitment and retention. Plus spotlighting an exciting, dynamic, and essential technical profession will increase awareness of the opportunities for young people to join.
