Start charging for supplying translators for public services.
Throughout Europe people who require translations have to bring a translator with them at their cost. Whereas in the U.K. this supplied free of charge.
£43,095,493 was spent on interpreters in 2019-20, the single largest year. This fell by 28 per cent to £31,050,708 in 2020-21 before rising by 28 per cent to £39,828,361 in 2021-22.
This obscene amount is for the NHS only and does not include other public services.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
We can only accept petitions about things the Government or Parliament are directly responsible for. Decisions about how translation is offered to service users is a matter for individual service providers. The NHS is operationally independent of the Government and Parliament, and the Government does not make policy in relation to interpretation services in the National Health Service
We could accept a petition calling on the Government to charge for the translation services it provides.
