Make 29 February a bank holiday
We want the Government to make 29 February a bank holiday. Currently people on a contracted salary have to work an extra day in leap years for no more pay.
This one extra day in the calendar every four years compensates for the fact that a period of 365 days is shorter than a tropical year by 6 hours.
Bank holidays enable many people to take a day off work to enjoy hobbies, take trips, or get together with family and friends. They can have a positive impact on staff morale and even productivity near the bank holiday. We think February feels like the longest month. Even though the days are still short, each day can seem to linger far too long. We think a bank holiday would help.
If you want to sign this petition (as opposed to merely discuss it), you need to do that on the government's e-Petitions website.
