VAT ON FUEL SHOULD BE DISCOUNTED RELATED TO EMISSONS

At around 60% current tax rates on fuel are extortionate.

It is also true that while the new road tax scheme is innovative, it isn't encouraging enough people into cars which produce lower CO2 emissions.

It is time that fuel tax was also related to CO2 emissions and people who own cars which produce lower CO2 emissions should get a fuel tax discount.

This would in fact be more effective in reducing the number of cars on the roads which produce higher CO2 emissions.
