Egyptians call for the return of the artefacts inherited from their ancestors.
Amend the British Museum Act 1963 to allow all countries of origin to have their say in their artefacts.
Egypt has preserved its artefacts for thousands of years and is capable of preserving them for the future. Return Egyptian Rosetta stone.
All calls for returning artefacts are rejected simply because, under the British Museum Act 1963, restitution is prohibited and only allows for the disposal of collection items in limited circumstances.
To enable the British Museum to repatriate the artefacts, the British Museum Act needs to be amended.
We call upon the UK government and parliament to endeavour and ensure that the history, values, and dignity of these treasures are maintained in their country of origin.
