Government to prevent Ofgem from charging an additional £16 from April 24 to 25.
I want the government to prevent Ofgem from charging paying customers an additional £16 between April 2024 and April 2025.
This charge is being made to cover the bad debts run up by non payers and it is grossly unfair that those who pay their bills are been forced to subsidise those who don't.
It is for the energy companies to recover the debts from non payers not for their good customers to make up the shortfall.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
We can only accept petitions about things the Government or Parliament are directly responsible for. Decisions about the energy price cap are a matter for Ofgem, not the UK Government or Parliament.
Ofgem is consulting on its proposals to add a temporary allowance in the energy price cap for additional bad debt-related costs. You can find out more about these proposals, and respond to Ofgem's consultation here: www.ofgem.gov.uk/publications/energy-price-cap-additional-debt-costs-review-consultation
