Petition Action

Stop the euthanasia of any dog that has XL bully characteristics.

Petition Details

Any dog that comes into the UK Governments criteria of XL bully or XL bully resemblance from the Governments posted bulletin on the XL bully ban. To allow any XL bully or considered XL bully after 31st October 2023 to be allowed a exemption certificate.

Additional Information

Many people will have given up their XL bully type dog to a rehousing center after the 31st October 2023. I see one on Facebook the other day looking for a home and only 1-2 years old. If not rehomed she will more than likely be euthanized. Why don't we concentrate on the important issues in this Country, like scrutinizing a member of parliaments expenses for every dog euthanized through this ban. It's not the dog it's the owners 100%. I own a XL bully type dog and he's the best ever.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

We understand that you are concerned about the euthanasia of XL Bully dogs, We're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do. It's not clear if you want the ban on XL Bully dogs to be revoked, or for owners of XL Bully dogs to be required to comply with requirements for exempted dogs, but these dogs not be subject to seizure or destruction.

We have published the following petitions, which you might like to sign:

Bad owners are to blame not the breed - don't ban the XL bully: petition.parliament.uk/petitions/643611

Scrap ban on dog breeds, regulate dog owners and ban euthanasia of healthy dogs: petition.parliament.uk/petitions/652050

If you want something different to the above you could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
