Petition Action

Ban private firework displays & the sale of fireworks for private use.

Petition Details

Ban the use of fireworks for private displays and the sale of fireworks for private use. Limit fireworks to organised public events only.

Additional Information

Fireworks are a trigger for people and animals, and can be dangerous if not used correctly. Fireworks can cause distress to the elderly, retired servicemen, young children, people with mental health issues and animals both pets and wild animals. Incorrect use at home displays can cause injuries and increased demand on the fire and ambulance services. Limiting firework use to just public displays that notify locals would allow people to take any needed precautions to limit the distress caused.
