Ban knives and increase minimum sentences for certain offences

Petition Details

We believe knife crime is out of control and current minimum sentences are token gestures and never going to change anything.

Additional Information

The answer is simple, ban knives & increase minimum sentences to 10 years for possession with intent and 20 years for using a knife, and a whole life sentence for taking a life.

So far nothing has really had any significant impact on deterring people from carrying or using a knife and we have to adopt a zero tolerance approach so anyone even considering carrying a knife knows they risk an automatic 10 years in prison just for possession with intent, 20 years for using a knife and a whole life sentence for taking a life. We see knife crime almost everyday, lives are taken too soon all the time and something has to be done. No more half measures or token gestures, Zero Tolerance.
