A Knighthood for Jonny Wilkinson

Additional Information

Jonny Wilkinson retires from rugby on the 31st May 2014. He has had an outstanding career for club and country that will stand the test of time when viewed against the greatest rugby players of all time.

His dedication to improving himself as a sportsman and a human being is something everyone should aspire to. He is hard working, focused and a role model for all young people whatever their chosen sport.

He is humble in victory, magnanimous in defeat and indefatigable in spirit when facing career challenging injuries. He is a man that any parent, and all British people, should be proud of.

His example to sportsmen and women of all genres, and his selfless determination, is the very definition of team ethos and will be an inspiration for generations of aspiring young people within and outside the UK.

The Government must knight him in recognition for his contribution to sport,
