Allow unrestricted sharing of video and CCTV footage of criminal/antisocial acts

Petition Details

We want the Government to amend data protection legislation to allow the free and open sharing of video and CCTV footage, in particular of criminal and antisocial behaviour, including on social media and with third parties.

Additional Information

I believe increases in some crimes / antisocial behaviours is due to the lack of police resources, meaning they do not attend or investigate some crimes. As there is an increase in CCTV and mobile phone cameras, which can capture criminal and antisocial behaviour, we want the Government to allow this footage to be shared, including on social media; it might act as a deterrent.

We believe footage of vandalism, fly tipping, assaults, racism, dine and dash, fare dodging, shoplifting and dangerous driving should be able to be shared publicly, without any restriction.
