More funding for cookery lessons in primary schools to help fight obesity
We want there to be more funding for primary school children to learn cooking skills. 1 in 3 leave primary school either overweight or obese. Parents are struggling with the cost of living. Many children eat highly processed foods which have been associated with negative health impacts.
The health and wellbeing of pupils is a priority. We think it is critical that our children learn about creating healthy inexpensive meals, through practical lessons in school. The government has said it is taking strong action to encourage healthier food choices. However, we feel efforts need to go further to help avoid increasing the risk of pupils developing type 2 diabetes or mental health issues.
If you want to sign this petition (as opposed to merely discuss it), you need to do that on the government's e-Petitions website.
