Enable community-led protective covenants for local historical & heritage sites

Petition Details

Pass laws enabling communities to protect heritage sites with restrictive covenants to protect heritage sites from redevelopment. This would allow communities to decide upon modifications and repurposing, and prevent demolition. If demolished, buildings would need to be rebuilt like for like.

Additional Information

This law may help curb development of historic areas for profit. It would empower communities to shield heritage, allowing alterations and repurposing of sites while ensuring damaged sites they are authentically restored or rebuilt. This could help preserve our national heritage and identity, maintaining historical integrity for future generations. It could help stop developers from buying historic properties and demolishing and replacing them.
