Revoke the Investigatory Powers Act 2016
The Investigatory Powers Act 2016 sets out powers for the state to obtain people’s communications. Now the Government are looking to amend this Act so technology firms have to notify the government about proposed new features that could impact the government’s ability to do this.
We have a right to privacy and believe that the UK Government are totally overreaching in having and seeking these powers and believe that they think they can dictate to the rest of the world. We think the changes could lead to the UK essentially vetoing new tech features.
We also think the IPA 2016 does not fit with the principle of innocent until proven guilty as we consider that it allows the Government to snoop on us.
We believe that the UK Government must abolish this act immediately.
If you want to sign this petition (as opposed to merely discuss it), you need to do that on the government's e-Petitions website.
