Don’t make students who don’t get a level 4 in maths/English GCSE retake them

Petition Details

Don’t require students not achieving a level 4 to retake GCSE English or maths in post-16 education. Some students don’t want to and think it may not benefit them in their future career plans.

Additional Information

Some people do not find the subjects such as English and maths interesting or find them difficult. If they did not have to study to resit them then they could focus their learning on something that interests them more and will benefit them in the future. For example, I believe it might be better for a trainee tradesman to not have to spend time studying for maths or English when they could be out learning in the real world to help them to get a job in the future.
