Increase statutory maternity leave and pay to 2 years at 75% pay

Petition Details

Amend the law to increase statutory maternity leave and pay for women giving birth to 2 years at 75% pay.

Additional Information

I don't believe the current law supports women who give birth enough. I don't believe current entitlement gives them enough time to prepare for returning to work. In some cases, mothers may not be able to find any suitable or sustainable childcare, meaning a return to work could put their child at risk. I think new mums need more time with their newborn to raise and prepare them for life.
