Mild sedation for procedures such as coil fittings and colposcopy
People with vaginas should be given the choice to have mild sedation when having procedures such as having a coil fitted and a colposcopy.
These procedures can be extremely painful and all we are advised is to take some paracetamol. It can be traumatic for some people if it is their first time or suffer with anxiety. Female reproductive health is not taken seriously in this country and things need to change. Mild sedation is offered for procedures like colonoscopy and gastroscopy both of which I have had and they were nowhere as near as painful as having a coil inserted into my uterus. We shouldn’t have to suffer from a painful experience

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
We can only accept petitions about things the Government or Parliament are directly responsible for.
Decisions about when to offer anaesthesia is a clinical matter for the NHS and individual clinicians, not the Government or Parliament.
