Require Educational Welfare Officers to have relevant SEND training/experience

Petition Details

We think the Government should make Educational Welfare Officer a protected job title in all schools. We think that anyone taking on the role should have relevant SEND training and experience.

Additional Information

We think that reform is imperative. Persistent school absence disproportionately affects SEND children. Coercing attendance can harms students' mental health and we think EWOs should be trained on and experienced in working with SEND students.
