Ban MPs and Lords from using Mobile Phones during parliamentary business.

Petition Details

While sitting in both houses of parliament (Commons and Lords) members should not be distracted by their mobile phones. It can be a barrier to concentrating on their job and a frustrating distraction.

Additional Information

They set these rules for others. It's clear it's a problem for them. They should follow the same rules they set others.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

There's already a petition about this issue. We cannot accept a new petition when we already have one about a very similar issue.

You are more likely to get action on this issue if you sign and share a single petition.

We have published the following petition, which you might like to sign:

Ban the use of mobile phones by MPs in the House of Commons chamber: petition.parliament.uk/petitions/654597

We can only accept petitions about things the Government or House of Commons are directly responsible for, and decisions about conduct in the House of Lords chamber are a matter for the House of Lords, not the UK Government or House of Commons.
