Make it an offence to film a serious incident without seeking assistance
We want the Government to make a new offence for people who prioritise filming a serious incident over seeking an emergency response. They should implement strict penalties, such as fines or custodial sentences, to deter such actions, ensuring public safety remains paramount.
I think there are too many instances of people video recording serious incidents or fatalities before calling for emergency response. This can delay crucial aid and dignity for victims. It can compromise investigations, hinder responders and disrespect privacy. I think legislative intervention is vital to prioritise prompt assistance over sensationalism, safeguarding lives and respecting human dignity.
If you want to sign this petition (as opposed to merely discuss it), you need to do that on the government's e-Petitions website.
