Additional Information

Voters in the UK often don't vote in a local or general election. No-one really knows the reason for this.

Is it because there is no candidate/party they wish to support?

Or is it because they are simply disinterested in politics?

If all ballot papers included at the bottom "No Suitable Candidate" or "None of the Above" then people could exercise their right to vote without actually having to support a candidate. The benefit of this would be to:

1) potentially increase the turn out at elections

2) provide an indication of how many people don't feel the political parties available represent them

The political establishment can then decide how to respond.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

There's already a petition about this issue. We cannot accept a new petition when we already have one about a very similar issue.

You are more likely to get action on this issue if you sign and share a single petition.
