Petition Action

Help decrease the overall UK crime rate

Petition Details

Introduce a formal request for the implementation of a protocol mandating the stopping and searching of individuals donning balaclavas while on public streets.

Additional Information

I would like the government or parliament help to assist the fast evolving criminal activity across the United Kingdom. Those wearing balaclavas have no reason to wear a balaclava unless potentially being involved in criminal activity, such as murders, robberies, trafficking etc

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

There's already a petition about this issue. We cannot accept a new petition when we already have one about a very similar issue.

You are more likely to get action on this issue if you sign and share a single petition.

Decisions about when to use stop and search powers are an operational matter for the police, but we have published the following petitions, which you might like to sign:

Introduce fines and stop and search powers for wearing a balaclava in public: petition.parliament.uk/petitions/643572

Reform need for reasonable grounds to stop and search people concealing identity: petition.parliament.uk/petitions/658284
