Scrap the House of Lords & replace it with an elected body of 200

Petition Details

Some peers are appointed for achievements in their life, some are political appointments, and some are there in their role as Bishops. 90+ hereditary peers, they are there on the back of what an ancestor did many years ago.

Additional Information

A wholly unelected House of Lords can thwart the will of the people's elected chamber in the House of Commons, for example by opposing Safety of Rwanda (Asylum and Immigration) Bill. We believe is not right

There are 792 eligible peers, + 43 sitting Judges.

Members of the House of Lords can claim £342 for each qualifying day of attendance at Westminster. That daily allowance is MORE than a weekly State Pension.
