Protected characteristics under the Equality Act should be protected.
Discrimination has no place in our society. Protected characteristics under the Equality Act should be just that - protected. However, under current law, discrimination against these characteristics only has a shelf life of 6 months. This is not enough.
We need a law that seriously considers the choices of individuals who decide to discriminate. To protect vulnerable people against invulnerable people, we need a law with serious consideration of the individual’s choices who decide to discriminate. Being Autistic doesn't stop me, but discrimination does.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.
We understand that you are concerned about protected characteristics under the Equality Act, but we're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do.
You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
