Amend the law on statutory overcrowding and children sharing bedrooms
We want the Government to amend the statutory definition of overcrowding so that children aged 8 and over aren't expected to share a room. Currently this only applies to children aged 10 and over. We are particularly concerned about the impact this has in the social housing sector.
We believe it is not appropriate for a female and male to be expected to share a room up till the age of 10.
Children as young as 8 can enter puberty. We believe the current definition of overcrowding and children sharing bedrooms is not suitable.
