Pass legislation that all retail outlets must accept cash payments.

Petition Details

To pass legislation making it mandatory for all retail outlets such as shops, bars, cafes, restaurants to accept cash as a method of payment.

Additional Information

Not accepting cash discriminates against those who have difficulty budgeting and those on low incomes.
It has been proved that people spend more when paying by card (or phone) compared to paying by cash.
Digital payment often depends on internet connectivity and electrical power.
Card systems are susceptible to fraud which cash is not.
