Repeal the Vagrancy Act 1824 immediately

Petition Details

This law is archaic, outdated and barbaric, not only does it affect those who are homeless, sleeping rough and/or having to beg for change simply to survive, it can affect those into wild camping. Rules can be put in place to protect wildlife and the environment separate from the vagrancy act.

Additional Information

The homeless community are people too, they deserve to feel safe or at least have one less threat to worry about. A homeless person sleeping rough in a tent for example already has the risk of being robbed, their tent slashed, or something else that’ll put them in danger, so why should they feel criminalised by the law and face the risk of police officers forcing them to move in the middle of the night when they are just trying to survive?
