Require safety bollards and speed cameras outside schools and nurseries
We believe too many schools lack anything in place to stop cars from crashing into buildings. An LSE study showed that from 1992 to 2016, speed cameras reduced accidents by between 17% to 39%. They reduced fatalities by between 58% to 68%. And the effects were seen within 500 metres of the cameras.
There have been tragic reports of cars crashing into schools and children. We believe you cannot control drivers however you can implement safety structures to keep our children safer.
If you want to sign this petition (as opposed to merely discuss it), you need to do that on the government's e-Petitions website.
