Refer the Sun newspaper to the Attorney General over the 1961 Inprint Act.
The free promotional copy of the Sun newspaper, which News International arranged for the Royal Mail to be delivered to every household, are being distributed without a legal imprint.
It is our understanding that a legal imprint on a newspaper is a requirement of the Printer's Imprint Act 1961, and that News UK, therefore may be in breach of this legislation.
We ask that you investigate this matter as soon as possible.

Under the UK Printer's Imprint Act 1961, which amended the earlier Newspapers, Printers, and Reading Rooms Repeal Act 1869, any printer must put their name and address on the first or last leaf of every paper or book they print or face a penalty of up to £50 per copy.
