Update Unsolicited mail opt out to remove unnecessary delays

The royal mail unsolicited mail opt out is deliberately obtuse and long winded in order deter people from opting out.

In addition to the 6+ weeks to process an opt out, they also give incorrect information suggesting that important government announcements will be missed if you opt out.

The unsolicited mail opt out is also the ONLY Royal Mail service which cannot be completed online immediately.

There is absolutely no justification for requiring a paper form be completed and submitted as there are absolutely no checks performed to validate the forms and so it is simply a tactic to make the process as unfriendly as possible.

We request that..

The opt out be offered as a fully automated online service.

The processing time for the opt out be reduced to 14 days maximum.

The opt out period be extended to a minimum of 2 years.

The Royal Mail stop issuing misleading information regarding the consequences of opting out.
