This e-petition is to gain public support to recognise through the next available honours list to nominate for Knighthood for their achievement in Leadership and Delivery to the benefit of hundreds of thousands throughout the UK. Gary Verity who brought, through determination in his work with Welcome to Yorkshire, the world’s largest annual sporting event The Tour De France, to the beautiful countryside of Yorkshire.
Garys delivery of the TDF, inspired an estimated 3 million British and worldwide citizens to line, sometimes 20 deep, the streets of this beautiful county that were truly transformed to welcome this event, bringing in an estimated £20m increase to the UK economy. His work will move the next generation of UK children to take up cycling, which will have long term health, environmental and social benefits. Cycling has seen an enormous uptake due to its TDF, World & Olympic successes; this will inspire further success
