Name, shame and fine companies that intentionally adulterate food or "omit" ingredients from labelling

Additional Information

Enable the Food Standards Agency to name, shame and fine any company, especially supermarkets and their "own brands", if they are found to be;
(a) intentional adding known, cheeper ingredients to pad out more expensive products,
(b) omitting to include in the label known "problem" ingredients such as colourings, preservatives or allergens, or
(c) adding allergens without clearly labelling them (for example if an ingredient can be derived from vegetable or fish, the phrase "derived from..." should be mandatory.

Any new law should also include a duty on the part of the company to have to respond to any claim of adulteration or omission, in writing, within a reasonable time. The reply should be to the reporter, the Food Standards Agency and on their own website. That way a body of evidence would become visible if a company is repeatedly flouting its duty.
