Stop the Data Retention and Investigation Powers Bill
The emergency bill that is currently being rushed through government, entitled Data Retention and Investigation Powers, is in clear violation of our right to privacy, and should be subjected to a full debate prior to being approved.
With this bill, the government will be able to legally oblige Internet Service Providers to keep the communication data of any and all citizens, for the benefit of the police and security services.
The government represents the people of the United Kingdom, not their own interests. In the interest of the people, this bill needs to be the subject of debate first, not discreetly rushed through parliament.
