Ceasing of cost of living increases normally paid by DWP on contracted out pension known as Guaranteed Minimum Pension (GMP)

Additional Information

At the moment when a person reaches state pension age the DWP pay increases on Guaranteed Minimum Pension (GMP)which is part of a person occupational pension.

After the new single-tier pension starts on 6 April 2016 I have found out that the DWP are no longer going to pay GMP increases which could be a loss of up to £23,000 for a woman and £17,000 for a man if they are high earners.

There are most probably several million people effected by by this change and they won't find out about it as the Government and DWP are not telling anyone about the change.

The change is being introduced by stealth.

I would like the Government/DWP to change their mind and find away to allow GMP increases to be paid by the DWP under the single-tier pension.
