Offer asylum to Christian and minority refugees in Iraq
Excessive amounts of Christians and minorities such as Yazidis are under extreme persecution from Islamic extremism in Iraq and have been completely displaced.
Refugees trapped on the Sinjar Mountains if rescued will also have no temporary or permanent settlement base and could face continued extreme conditions.
The UK has a proud record of offering asylum to those under extreme persecution.
We call upon the government to offer immediate temporary asylum to Christians and minority refugees persecuted and fleeing Iraq. Permanent asylum should be considered for those in necessary circumstances.
The government should also call upon and urge all allies to accept Christian and minority refugees fleeing Iraq.
