Petition Action

Federalise the United Kingdom

Additional Information

The current setup of the UK stifles our four countries, with our over-centralisation creating a democratic deficit promoting disillusionment.

The UK should be federalised with power fully devolved to Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and the English regions. A central parliament would be responsible for outward looking policy (defence, foreign affairs), and local parliaments responsible for inward looking policy (planning, taxations, home affairs, transport and so forth).

The option should given to overseas territories such as Gibraltar and the Falklands, or Crown dependencies such as the Channel Islands and Isle of Man to join the Federal UK if they so wish.
