RECOGNITION FOR ORDINARY ‘HEROES’
It is often forgotten that behind those burning bus images were ordinary
people that little is known about. The bus drivers and transport workers who
risked life and limb to keep the buses running during those difficult and
dangerous times.
Ordinary people who helped maintain a sense of normality for the people of
Northern Ireland by keeping the buses operating during those volatile years.
The aim of this petition is to ask for those bus drivers and transport
workers who endured and survived those difficult times to receive an
appropriate award in recognition of their courage and determination to
provide that vital service to passengers throughout Northern Ireland.
For those who went to work and lost their lives, their families deserve a
fitting tribute in the form of a specially designed posthumous medal in
recognition of the ‘terrible price’ their loved ones paid.
