Petition Action

6 Month limit on claiming benefits

Additional Information

Welfare payments have doubled since 1997 to almost £110 billion per year. 16.9% of households in the UK have no one at home who works.

With the exception of genuinely sick and disabled people, the government should limit benefit payments to 6 months at which time the claimant would need to seek work in order to have an income. To qualify for further benefit payments a citizen should hold employment for a period open for debate. ? 1 year.

Why should the hard working pay tax in order to keep people who are able to work in great comfort and contribute nothing.
