Extend Scotland's position on the Regulation of Fireworks to the rest of the UK
Extend 'The Fireworks (Scotland) Miscellaneous Amendments Regulations 2021' and the 'Fireworks and Pyrotechnic Articles (Scotland) Act 2022' beyond Scotland, as a significant step towards tackling the anti-social use of fireworks within the rest of the UK; follow Scotland's lead in tackling misuse.
Anti-social use of fireworks is not limited to Scotland, the rest of the UK is experiencing the same issue.
Whilst not a complete solution yet, the two new legislations have enabled a significant step forwards in tacking the misuse of fireworks in Scotland by: introducing greater restrictions on the sale and use of fireworks, and; providing discretionary powers to local authorities to designate firework control zones.
The changes have been positive for Scotland.
