Petition Action

Remove priority need requirements from homelessness legislation.

Petition Details

Change legislation regarding provision of accommodation for rough sleepers. Treat rough sleeping as a priority need in itself. We think not being able to go to the toilet or attend to basic personal hygiene is a priority need.

Additional Information

We want local authorities to secure that accommodation is available for all eligible applicants beyond the relief stage, regardless of priority need.
Because we believe every human being has the right to have a home and have use of a bathroom, regardless if someone is intentionally homeless. Real solutions need to be implemented. Policy needs to be set by front line workers and peer groups. We think that as a nation we have a duty to help entrenched rough sleepers to recover.
