Review licencing rules for live music
Current licensing rules mean that all live performances (apart from morris dancing or similar) require a licence. This is excessively restrictive.
We propose that the requirement for a licence should be removed for:
Events to which no admission fee is charged;
Events where the expected audience does not exceed 200 (except where admission is charged);
Events which are primarily for the enjoyment of participants rather than for an audience (e.g. traditional music sessions);
Events which are part of a seasonal folk tradition (eg mummers plays).
