Indefinitely detain non-UK national terror suspects without charge
A law to confer upon the police power to detain suspected terrorists who aren't UK nationals without the requirement for immediate formal charge, and for an indeterminate period, to enable the authorities to pursue investigation.
We think this provision would allow unfettered access to the detained person for ongoing inquiries while also mitigating the potential threat such individuals may pose to public safety. We think the indefinite custodial mechanism would serve to eliminate temporal restrictions that might otherwise constrain the intelligence-gathering process, thereby facilitating exhaustive scrutiny under lawful detention, thus enhancing national security.
