Petition Action

Discard Non-Crime Hate Incident Laws pertaining to Social Media & Journalism.

Petition Details

Discard the Non-Crime Hate Incident Laws pertaining to social media & journalism. Rely on news & social media platform’s existing Public Safety Policies to deal with articles, posts, comments and interactions that are reported as offensive, hostile or prejudice to an individual, group or community.

Additional Information

Discard the Non-Crime Hate Incident Law with regard to social media and journalism including articles, posts, comments and interactions. This is a law that many UK citizens do not support because of it’s ambiguous & subjective nature. There is public concern about the potential of infringement on human rights with regards to freedom of speech, freedom of expression and the right to have a point of view which others may find offensive, but it not unlawful or a criminal offence.
