Create an Animal NHS
The cost of veterinary provision is rising exponentially. If Parliament sets up an Animal NHS, if only for the animals of pensioners and those on means tested benefits, it will prevent pet owning from becoming the province of only the extremely wealthy.
Pet owners whose animals become ill or are injured and who are on limited financial means face the choice of killing their animal or being prosecuted by the RSPCA if they wait until they have the money to pay for treatment.
If veterinary students who worked for an Animal NHS for 5 years when they qualified had their tuitions fees waived the scheme would pay for itself considering the heartbreak and stress that pet owners face. in these situations.
