Petition Action

Set limits on the length of lane closures for roadworks

Petition Details

Set limits for roadworks on motorways and A roads including:
- Limiting lane closures to 3 miles maximum on motorways, 1 mile on A roads.
- No roadworks or lane closures allowed within 20 miles of other works.
- All work areas resourced 24 hours a day in non-residential areas until completion.

Additional Information

We believe that continuous lane closure disruption may cause:
- Increased potential for accidents
- Reduced access for emergency vehicles
- Delayed business deliveries
- Difficulty planning journeys
- Increased journey times
- Personal stress
- Road rage
- Lateness for medical appointments, work, school, flights, etc.
- Damage to the environment due to pollution from concentrated stationary traffic
