Amend the Equality Act 2010 to include professions in protected characteristics

Petition Details

We call on the Government to amend the 2010 Equality Act to include a person’s occupation as a protected characteristic, as we believe it is necessary to safeguard individuals in certain professions from discrimination, abuse, and social stigma.

Additional Information

We believe that individuals working in legal, yet sometimes socially stigmatised professions are frequently subjected to prejudice, verbal abuse, harmful stereotypes, and even physical violence. We also believe that these workers are also unfairly judged and ostracized, which can lead to significant barriers in accessing other employment and services.
