criminal record screening EU nationals before they can work or claim benefits in the UK
With the recent murder of schoolgirl Alice Gross, and the prime suspect being Arnis Zalkaln, a Latvian national with a criminal record in his native country for murder, there needs to be a tightening up of the UK borders with regards to allowing foreign nationals with criminal records into the country to work and reside.
I propose that all foreign nationals EU of other, need to have criminal record checks from their own country before they are given a national insurance number and allowed to work and claim benefits in this country.
On a personal note I know at least one other Latvian in this country with a murder record from Latvia.
If they are found to have a serious criminal history they should be barred from the UK. This is the only way to protect the British citizens.
